IPR Cell was established at SVIMS on 25th November, 2013.

Objectives

1.   To create awareness among the students about IPR.

2.   To create an environment for acquiring new knowledge through innovation, develop an attitude of prudent IPR practices, and promote IPR culture compatible with the educational mission of the institute.

Activities

Lego Serious Play Workshop under the Startup & Innovation Cell

18th November, 2019

Resource Person: Mr. Vijay Talreja & Mr. Laxman

Mr. Vijay Talreja & and Mr. Laxman from Play, Think & Transform were invited to conduct a workshop on Lego Serious Play. It is a methodology for exploring and dealing with a situation or problem by building Lego models & and sharing their meaning. The trainers let the participants imagine and generate ideas using creativity and innovation.

The idea behind the entire exercise using Lego Serious play was engaging students in a playful & and fun-based brainstorming & and experiential session, Think- generate curiosity, imagination, and Transform paradigm was used by the trainers to bring about transformation in participants.

The workshop helped the students realize the nitty–gritty of strategic decision-making and problem resolution in business environments.

IPR Management- Session 1

5th March 2019, from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M

Speaker: Dr. Bharati Dole

As a part of activities under the IPR cell, Dr. Bharati Dole who is an IPR consultant was invited to deliver a series of sessions on IPR Management. Her first session included an Introduction to IPR management & and laws related to IPR. Students learn the various concepts associated with IPR.

Dr. Dole made the topic very simple for the students to understand.

IPR Management- Session 2

8th March 2019, from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M

Speaker: Dr. Bharati Dole

Dr. Dole continued to discuss the Patents and Copy Rights under the IPR Management in session 2 under the activities of the IPR cell.  The students were surprised to know that even the cooking recipes can be patented. They had many questions about what could be patented. When and how? Dr. Dole tried to answer all of them.

Students found the sessions knowledge-enhancing & and helpful.

IPR Legal Framework

15th October, 2016

A session on “IPR-Legal Framework” was conducted by Mr. Anil Gupte, Founder Layer3 Media The session was conducted to cover the topics under Intellectual Property Laws- Patients, copyrights trademarks and designs. The students learned from the session the process of registering trademarks, protection and prosecution relating to the infringement of intellectual property rights.

He also made the students aware of the different categories under IPR i.e.- Trade marks, Copy rights, Design Rights and Patents.

Workshop on Cyber Laws (IPR)

 9th March, 2015 9:00 A.M to 4:00 PM

Resource Person: Mr. Sadik Shaikh (ARIZONA Infotech, Pune)

Mr. Sadik Shaikh is the Technology Evangelist at ARIZONA Infotech and is associated with numerous Government and private organizations in Information security. He discussed with the students about the Cyber Laws and the various IPR issues related to it.  The various terms discussed in the workshop were Copyright infringement, Cyber Crimes, Cyber Squatting, IPR issues and the challenges involved in it.

He shared his experience of working on Cyber Crimes which made the session very interesting for the students.

Innovation and IPR

24th January, 2015 9:00 AM to 11:00 A.M

Resource Person: Mr. Anil Gupte (Founder Layer3 Media)

Mr. Anil Gupte Founder Layer3 Media shared his views with the students about innovation.

He started the discussion by asking the students the difference between “Innovation, Invention & Discovery”. Anil Gupte has 6 patents registered in his name, and thus has through knowledge of IPR.

He introduced to the students the process of registering Patents and how one can safeguard their own work by Patenting.

Students found the session very interesting and interactive.

Orientation on IPR

7th January, 2014  9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Mr. Anil Gupte Founder Layer3 Media and the Coordinator [Professional] IPR Cell of SVIMS oriented the students about the newly established IPR cell in the institute. Anil Gupte is an Innovator and had 6 patents to his credit. He introduced to the students the various aspects of IPR and how one can safeguard their own personal information from others.
