Safe Hands, Strong Hearts: Empowering Kids with Touch Awareness
On 30th December 2023, the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, in collaboration with SVIMS-NSS
student volunteers, visited a tribal village to conduct an awareness program for 250 primary
students and 60 Aanganwadi children. The focus of the program was to educate children
on the important topic of Good Touch and Bad Touch, an essential aspect of their safety and
well-being. Under the guidance of Ms. Priti Dhamdhere and Ms. Anjali Bhuttula, the students
were sensitized to the differences between good touch and bad touch, helping them
understand their personal boundaries. The session aimed at empowering children with
knowledge of how to protect themselves and seek help when needed.
NSS volunteers Ms. Sakshi Salve and Ms. Kadambini Uttral conducted engaging activities
such as:
Touch Awareness Game: A fun, interactive activity where children learned through
role play about which touches are safe and appropriate.
Discussion and Q&A Session: An open platform for children to ask questions and
clarify their doubts about personal safety.
The volunteers spent their valuable time and effort to ensure the students understood these
critical concepts, reinforcing the importance of respecting personal boundaries. As part of the
program, Sadhu Vaswani Mission organizers and SVIMS NSS students donated gift boxes
containing school supplies, sports equipment, and sweets to each child, reinforcing the
message of care and support. The school principals and staff expressed their gratitude for the
time and effort invested by the
volunteers. The event concluded
with heartfelt thank-you speeches
from the schoolchildren,
expressing their appreciation for
the valuable lessons they had
learned about personal safety.
This initiative by Sadhu Vaswani
Mission and SVIMS-NSS was a
significant step in empowering
children with the knowledge to
protect themselves and
promoting awareness about
personal safety.
